Analyse individual fit and make pattern alterations
Application
The unit applies to fitting a garment or toile on an individual and making size and fit alterations on the garment or toile; then transferring these alterations to the pattern. Work may be conducted in small to large scale enterprises and may involve individual and team-related activities. The application of this unit is according to OHS practices of the enterprise and workplace practices, which may include: requirements prescribed by legislation, awards agreements and conditions of employment standard operating procedures work instructions oral, written and visual communication quality practices, including responsibility for maintenance of own work quality and contribution to quality improvement of team or section output housekeeping tasks related to environmental protection, waste disposal, pollution control, and recycling This unit requires skills in communication to take and document measurements and pattern requirements. Planning and organising, problem solving and initiative and enterprise skills are required to determine fit and pattern requirements. Self management skills are required to ensure quality standards are met. |

3 Make pattern alterations | 3.1 Tools and equipment are obtained and prepared for altering patterns. 3.2 Required alterations are recorded. 3.3 Garment or toile alterations are transferred to the pattern. 3.4 Pattern alterations are finalised. 3.5 Final patterns are completed, labelled and checked for accuracy and completeness of all necessary information, to ensure compliance with specifications. 3.6 Patterns are filed and stored. |
